Make a name for yourself in the world of sports reporting!

If you’re mad about your sports, then why not change your career for the better, and get involved in the world of Sports News reporting – by enroling on an onine course in Sports journalism?

By doing so, you could be armed with the qualifications necessary to really make a name for yourself in the industry of sports news reporting.

This is exactly what Kevin Thompson did. The course took him almost 12 months of hard studying to complete, and since recieving his diploma he’s been very busy in the world of sport.

Not long after completing his course, he landed his own weekly radio show on Wythenshawe 101 FM; Friday afternoons slot 4 to 5 pm, and Tuesdays from 11am to noon.

From here on it was a snowball effect for Kevin, as he was featured in Manchester City’s match day programme, not so long ago.

Kevin was also given the go-ahead by Manchester City in the Community and the club’s sponsors to broadcast interviews and match reports from Manchester City Ladies Women’s Northern Division matches.

Kevin told us: ‘The ladies’ team manager will mention that I broadcast every week in his programme column in the men’s and ladies’ match programme.’

And this week was no different, as Kevin planned and prepped himself for a series of interviews with a number of high profile sporting personalities.

His week began with an interview with both former England captain Bryan Robson, and prolific goalscorer Dennis Law.

Kevin is now gearing up for an exclusive interview with six times World Speedway Champion Ivan Mauger and, Current British Team Captain Chris Harris.

He will then be present at the open public meeting for the Belle Vue National Speedway Stadium on Tuesday night.

And if you thought that was enough excitement for one week, think again!

As on Sunday August 7, Kevin has a press pass for the clash between Manchester United and Manchester City in the Community Shield, which will allow him to get all the immediate reactions of the players and managers after the match.

All of this is simply proof that if you enrol of the right course, work hard and apply yourself in the right way, you really can achieve anything you want to!

Wild Stories: The Best Of Men's Journal

Wild Stories: The Best Of Men’s Journal

$9.89

For the past decade, Men’s Journal has set the standard for travel and adventure writing by publishing the work of America’s finest authors and literary journalists. Wild Stories collects thirty-two of the best pieces to appear in the magazine, written by its most esteemed contributors, including Jim Harrison, Sebastian Junger, P. J. O’Rourke, Rick Bass, Thomas McGuane, George Plimpton, Hampton Sides, Doug Stanton, Tim Cahill, and Mark Bowden. Each of the four chapters in Wild Stories showcases Men’s Journal’s diversity and taut storytelling power. "The Adventures" is a series of razor-sharp travel narratives, from a road trip across India on the perilous Grand Trunk Road to a search for grizzlies in Romania. "The Sporting Life" is a look into obscure corners of the sports world, where golf’s bush-league wannabes try to make it to the PGA and a group of cyclists out-suffer one another in pursuit of the mythic Hour Record. "Men’s Lives" includes profiles of singular adventurers such as Yvon Chouinard and Ned Gillette, and captures the rewards of such quintessentially male traditions as building a cabin on your own plot of land. And "The Reporting" collects definitive accounts of the most newsworthy disasters, as well as riveting dispatches from war zones in Somalia, Sudan, and Colombia, and from environmental hot spots in Alaska and Montana. Commemorating Men’s Journal’s tenth anniversary, Wild Stories is a diverse and entertaining anthology that explores the magazine’s basic creed: Life is an adventure. From the first page to the last, these are stories you’ll never forget. From the Hardcover edition.

“Thirty-two-year-old Janet Stevens was resolved to the fact that she may never get married. If she did, it would probably be to someone who would just fit into her lifestyle. Janet was an artist and a very independent young woman. Her mother, an immigrant from Scotland, died very suddenly from a heart attack at the age of fifty-one, and while cleaning out her moms house she found a Journal written in her mothers handwriting. She decided to wait until she moved up to her new home in the beautiful Wine Country of California before sitting down to read the Journal. On a stormy day, sitting by the fire in her new home in Boonville, she started to read. It surprised her that her mother even kept a journal. At first it was fun to read about her mom as a young girl but further on secrets and deceptions came to the surface that hurt and confused her. She decides to take a trip to Elgin, the heart of Moray, in the mystical Highlands of Scotland where she hoped to unravel the secrets and lies.”

$3.94

"Teaching American History: Essays Adapted from the "Journal of American History, 2001-2007 brings together a selection of articles from the "Textbooks and Teaching" section of the "Journal of American History." Editors Gary J. Kornblith and Carol Lasser have compiled a set of thought-provoking essays from a wide range of top scholars that helps instructors of the U.S. survey consider pedagogy, assessment, re-centered narratives, "uncoverage," as well as textbooks and other course materials. Each part of the book focuses on a different aspect of teaching the survey. Part I introduces an on-line roundtable discussion on teaching the U.S. survey. Part II features articles reflecting on the role of the textbook in the U.S. survey. Part III, "Teaching Outside the Box," contains a selection of articles on incorporating sports, theater, oral history, field experience, service learning, field trips, and the Web into teaching and learning. Part IV challenges teachers to think about the connection between teaching, learning, and testing. Finally, Part V includes articles about bringing the narratives of marginalized people to the center of American history.
